Happy Halloween, two or three days late. Whatever! Here are some pictures of my scary crew. Nick was sick on Halloween so he did not get to go trick or treating. That's why there are not pictures of him. The boys had lots of fun and ended the night at Cheesy Jane's. The next night we had the ward Fall Festival and they got even more candy! I had to throw in this last picture for all my family out west. Yes, the gas station by my house was selling gas today for $1.99! Read it and weep. I can't believe it is this cheap right now. It will probably go up, though, if Obama is elected. Yes, I am trying to gear myself up for the seemingly inevitable Obama presidency. Ugh!!! We will all just have to muddle through. Man, what's wrong with the people in this country? It's just amazing to me that we are about to elect a radical left-wing socialist that we know nothing about to be our president. Crazy. Oh well, hopefully we will be alright. But I don't know.
I am about to make Acorn Squash with Spicy Beef for dinner. If it is good, I'll post the recipe.

The Baumsquad

Okay, here we go. Boy has this been a crazy month! I thought blogging would be the best way to sort of keep a journal or log of what is going on in my life so I'm doing it. First of all, these are just some of my favorite pictures of my family so I thought I'd start with them. October 2008 is one for the record books. Zack got married to sweet Beca and the next week my sweet mom passed away. It's been almost two weeks now and I'm still reeling from everything. I had to put on a wedding reception for Zack and Beca the next day after Mom died and it was indeed overwhelming. I wouldn't have been able to pull it off without the help of many willing hands. I am so grateful to my husband, sisters, sister-in-law, daughters, daughters-in-law, nieces, nieces-in-law, brother, brothers-in-law, nephews, and Beca's family (I hope I didn't leave anyone out) for all their help. The reception was gorgeous and turned out so great. It was just such a weird time for all of us. After the reception was over, the funeral planning had to begin. I think the funeral was really nice. Everyone did a great job. It was great to see so many family members and I miss them all now. The house is soooo quiet. Meghann left and went back to Germany today and so no one is left. Just me, Randy, Hunter, and Cade. It will take a while to adjust to not having Nanny here, though. We have never had to lock our house when we left before because someone was always here and now we have to lock it. It's just strange. I really miss Mom. It's hard for me to see her empty recliner. I just keep telling myself that she and Dad are really, really happy to be together and so that makes it a little easier for me. I guess I just feel a little selfish wishing she were still here. Anyway, I will be okay. It is so good to understand our Heavenly Father's plan and that we will all be with Mom and Dad again some day.
Other news: Zack broke his left wrist last weekend and has a cast up past his elbow. He is thinking about having surgery to fix it so that he can get out of a cast quicker. Poor kid. Of course, he broke it playing basketball.
